I know this is a late post but better late than ever yea?! I hope everyone is having a prosperous and beneficial Ramadan thus far!
For those who aren’t familiar with the month, Ramadan is the time of year when Muslims all around the world abstain from food, drink, and physical desires for a month.
This is the first Ramadan in a couple years that I’ll be home for the entire month which is a nice feeling. It’s always been a family affair since we were younger and kudos to my mum who’s alhamdulillah always tried her best to keep it that way. What better way than to pray and break fast together than with your ickle family?!
It’s only been a couple days but routines have already begun to set in; I know what I like/don’t like to eat for suhoor (morning meal) *(fruitloops over honeycomb cereal fyi!), and that mama needs an extra hand in the morning to lay the table, set the tea etc. Gone are the days when we’d sleep in as kids and only be woken once everything was done lol
Tarawih (late night prayers) have been a bit of a struggle (I think for everyone!) just because of the timings but Inshallah Allah makes it easy for everyone. The night of our first tarawih, our Imam gave a pep-talk to everyone on how we said it would be difficult last year but alhamdulillah we survived and this year is no different lol which was almost like a vote of confidence for everyone. I’m not going to lie but it’s hard to concentrate like ‘fully fully’ during tarawih and its something on my list to Inshallah work on! Also on my list of things to work on is exercising patience and knowing when to talk lol (it’s not an easy thing for some!) and being as nice and kind as can be to everyone. Might seem like simple goals lol but I’ve decided I need to start somewhere!
I do wonder how Ramadan would be in Kuwait. I miss Shaheer loads and Kuwait and Inshallah we’ll get a chance to celebrate this month there one day x Shaheer and I have had our fair share of a long distance marriage and Kuwait was our first time actually being together for a period of time longer than 2-3 months lol and going back to that now is freaking hard! Inshallah he’ll be here in August for my cousins wedding but it seems so far away and I miss my best friend 😦
I also miss the adhan which had become so normal in Kuwait and allowed us to pray on the regular and on time alhamdulillah and would have been oh so beneficial even more so in this special month x
How is your Ramadan going so far? Have you set any goals for yourself this month? Any favourite foods for iftar?! Feel free to share below!
Wishing you and your family a blessed month and Inshallah all our prayers and fasts are accepted xo.
